A Family Visit
Ever since I’ve left France I’ve been looking forward to the little getaways where we return to see friends and family. I love living in Amsterdam and I admire how dynamic the city is, but thinking back of my time in France it is the food, good products in general and climate I miss the most. However, I think it is very healthy to change environment every once in a while and there are so many others places where I would like to live. Still I would be more than content to move back to France one day.
I’ve lived in Toulouse and Lyon before so I’ve seen my share of the South of France, but last week we decided to spend a couple of days at family in the Southwest, or perhaps better known as le Sud-Ouest. Located right next to the beach and the border of Spain, I’ve lingered around, indulged in quite the amount of sea food (Fruits de mer is my favourite dish and you can wake me up for squid) and dived into the ocean. Also, when tasting a fair share of wine while there I figured it’s about time to learn some more about the art of the sommelier. Safe to say I’ll never be one myself, but there’s still time to develop myself into becoming a do-it-yourself wine connoisseur…
