The lookbook by Where I Was From is giving me some serious late Indian Summer vibes. I feel like putting on Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks while lazing around my neighbourhood, doing nothing in particular. The idea behind the New York brand is to select ephemeral vintage finds and style them in a modern way, all with a semantic link to classic menswear styling and a slight nod to ambiguity. The lookbook has a modern breeze over it, but every garment in their shop is, in fact, vintage.
Their current collection of dresses is beautiful and makes my heart beat faster (the sheer white silk of the garments, the oversized cut and the nonchalance in the styling), whereas a couple of the jackets are perhaps a little too manly for me. And well, how sumblime is the cut of these trousers? It’s all about combining these unique items in the right way I guess, because the lookbook is making me seriously greedy. I am now out to find my record by The Kinks, as it has to be around the house somewhere. Also, note to self: why do I not own a sun hat?
