A Warm Coat For Winter Weather
…Is something I am still looking for. I am currently wearing my A.P.C. Madame pea coat with a rolled-down black cashmere turtleneck for some added warmth, but now that the first real winter snow is coming down the sky I will probably at some point have to reassess my strategy. I don’t wear parkas (although the popular Acne parka is supposedly one of the warmest coats ever made), as I truly prefer the sharp silhouette of a well-cut woollen coat. I think most people I met here in Northern Europe would say that at a certain point comfort has to go over sartorial pretence, and ultimately advise me to opt for the parka. I am, however, not so sure yet. Yet I am sure that I have been cold this past week, haha.
This Pas de Calais coat would blend in perfectly in my wardrobe, but it would be too similar to my current coat as for keeping warm. I could write down a list of potential winter coats (such as the notorious A.P.C. Doll coat) that fit that same category, so I will refrain from thinking about them; they are elegant pieces, but just insufficient for current colder winter weather. In any case, the new semester at uni is giving me very little time for an actual shopping session, so for now I will just be keeping up with the turtleneck jumper, A.P.C. coat and warm scarf strategy for the next month. I have been told the snow will disappear in a couple or days or so anyway, so my chances of survival are actually pretty high.
