The Perfect Little Black Dress
As mentioned in my previous post, one of the garments on my wish list for the Five Piece French Wardrobe challenge is a simple black dress, also known as the LBD (Little Black Dress, as for the history of the garment click here). Considering the fact that I am not a dress-type of gal (I hardly even wear a skirt and feel unfortunately slightly awkward when showing some leg, which has to change) I want the dress to be as simple and ‘clean’ as possible, perhaps with one little detail that stands out. It would be great if I would feel comfortable wearing the garment so I will consider it a basic and wear it on a regular basis.
The black dress that I am looking for would ideally be made out of silk or a sturdy cotton, and would have to consist of the most simple shape, since I am not a fan of weird layers or too many frumpy details. A black wrap dress would perhaps be nice, but a simple black A-line cami dress even better. I want it to be my go-to dress, as I will only allow myself to own one little black dress as it would be a shame to overbuy on pieces that in the end I hardly wear. So, quite a tough choice really! The dress Marine Vacth is wearing is simply elegant (this one looks slightly similar), but I would pass on showing that amount of cleavage.
